This bilingual blog is intended as a platform for the promotion and exposure of community arts and popular education efforts in Central and South America. It began as a personal chronicle of my work in Honduras, and has grown to include other artist´s and organization´s efforts in Latin America.
WHO AM I?
I am a Colombian-born, Toronto-based practicing artist, having shown videos, artwork and ran workshops in Canada and Nicaragua. In 2010, I worked as a an arts teacher and facilitator with ArtCorps in Honduras. As an Art-Corps artist, I lived in Olanchito, Yoro, with local organizations (AJAASSPIB) and with the Ecologic Development Fund.
AJAASSPIB stands for The Association of Water Boards for the Southern Sector of the Pico Bonito National Park; a grassroots watershed management organization. They are located in the Pico Bonito National Forest, and work tirelessly to promote the protection and management of clean water sources by facilitating the involvement of communities and water councils.
