For 23 year old Monica Gutierrez, art has become a means of livelihood. Up until this year she has worked as a freelance artist, studied community Arts and Video Art at York University, organized interpretive dance courses, shown her video and documentary works at renowned Latin film festivals and all the while inserting reflections of her own upbringing in Colombia.
To celebrate her year-long excursion she has organized a cultural gallery of performers on Sunday December 20th. Performing is Zimbabwe Marimba band led by Chaka Chikodzi with Africville Productions and a Capoeira dance performance with Capoeria Males students whom with Monica has been affiliated with for the past year. Jadea Kelly will also be performing acoustic selections.
